Este lunes dio inicio el IHF Trophy Centroamericano Junior y Juvenil Masculino en Ciudad Quesada.
El evento comenzó con el juego entre las Selecciones de Guatemala y El Salvador a las 9:30 de la mañana, siendo los guatemaltecos los vencedores con un marcador de 47 a 13. El premio al mejor jugador del partido lo obtuvo el jugador Anthony Estuardo.
Dos horas después el combinado patrio en la categoria juvenil, la cual cayó derrotada por diferencia de una anotación. Los pinoleros lograron llevarse la victoria con marcador de 31-32 y el jugador de este partido fue José Martínez.
En la tarde, nuevamente las selecciones de Guatemala y El Salvador se volvieron a enfrentar esta vez por la categoria juvenil, el encuentro inició a la 1:30 y el marcador favoreció a los guatemaltecos con un marcador de 40-21.
Horas más tarde, Panamá y Honduras tendrían un doble enfrentamiento, a las 3:30 se enfrentaría juvenil y una hora más tarde lo haría la junior. Los hondureños se llevaron la victoria del primer cotejo con un marcador de 36- 32, siendo el panameño Jefrrey Vega el jugador del partido.
Mientras que en el segundo enfrentamiento, los canaleros se llevaron la victoria por 20 puntos de diferencia, siendo el marcador final 39-19, El panameño Samar López fue se proclamó como jugador del partido.
En horas de la noche, se dio la Inauguración del IHF Trophy Centroamericano Junior y Juvenil Masculino, con la participación de la Presidenta de la Federación, Silke Mendéz, así como la Ministra de Deportes, Karla Alemán y miembros del Comité de Deportes de San Carlos y de la Municipalidad.
La noche cerró con el juego entre las selecciones de Costa Rica y Nicaragua en la categoría Junior, el juego fue de mucha intensidad, ambos equipos querían arrancar con una victoria y estar más cerca de la clasificación; sin embargo, fueron los ticos que se impusieron 32-19 sobre los pinoleros.
