- Mundial se desarrolló entre el 15 y 19 de septiembre 2022
Costa Rica compitió de gran manera en el mundial Sub 19 de Voleibol de Playa en Turquía.
En Femenino, tras sus buenos resultados las jóvenes se ubicaron en los puestos del 17 al 24 mejores del mundo.
La dupla conformada por Aliza Aguilar e Isabella Rodríguez, terminaron con balance de 1 victoria y 3 derrotas, el grupo al que pertenecieron lo integraban Turquía, República Checa y Egipto.
Las costarricenses debutaron ganándole a las anfitrionas, Turquía 2-0 (22-20/21-18), consiguiendo así la primera victoria para Costa Rica en esta categoría en un mundial. En el segundo encuentro contra República Checa, la dupla femenina perdió 0-2 (13-21/08-21).
Aguilar-Rodriguez perdieron su tercer encuentro contra Egipto, en un vibrante encuentro que se extendió a tercer set 1-2 (12-21/21-15/12-15), a pesar de la derrota se clasificó a la siguiente ronda donde el rival sería Países Bajos.
En masculino, Costa Rica finalizó su participación en el Mundial con un balance de 2 victorias y dos derrotas para ubicarse entre el 17-24 mejores del mundo. Los costarricenses se enfrentaron en la ronda de grupos a Brasil, Canadá y República Checa.
La dupla confirmada por Julián Araya y Jhostin Varela ganaron su primer encuentro contra Canadá 2-0 (21-10/21-19), al igual que la selección Femenina, los jóvenes consiguieron hacer historia con este triunfo en un mundial.
Los jóvenes lograron ganarle un set a una potencia del mundo, a Brasil, en un juego intenso que se extendió a tercer set. Ganaron el primer set 24-22, los siguientes fueron para Brasil, 17-21/15-11.
Costa Rica se clasificó a la siguiente ronda siendo segundo de su grupo, tras vencer a República Chica, 2-0 (21-16/21-18). En la siguiente fase, los costarricenses se enfrentaron Bélgica contras los que cayeron 0-2 (15-21/15-21).
«Ya no podemos decir que Costa Rica fue a participar, Costa Rica fue a competir y dejar muy en claro los objetivos que tiene nuestro país con el Voleibol de Playa, ya se menciona el nombre de Costa Rica a nivel mundial, dos equipos de Costa Rica lograron pasar de ronda en un mundial», destacó Adilson Milanés, entrenador de las selecciones sub19.
Milanés, además destaca que desde ya se está trabajando para las próximas competencias, el entrenador Luis Sandoval y él ya hicieron un balance de los resultados, y ahora tienen el compromiso de ser Campeones Centroamericanos en Noviembre 2022 en Panamá.
