Este viernes 24 de noviembre, La Ministra de Educación, Anna Katharina Müller Castro, y el presidente de la Federación Costarricense de Ajedrez, Luis Eduardo Quirós Rojas, firmaron el convenio de cooperación que permitirá promocionar e implementar el aprendizaje y la práctica del ajedrez en los centros educativos del país.
El convenio viene a reforzar la Ley N°10187, que declara de interés público la enseñanza del ajedrez en el sistema educativo costarricense.
“Estamos muy contentos de haber firmado este convenio, creemos que es una alianza que nos va a permitir llevar a los chicos una motivación especial”, dijo Anna Muller Castro, quien agregó: “Estamos decididos, justamente, a que los estudiantes les guste el deporte, que realmente lo vivan y disfruten, y dentro de ese marco del deporte hay diferentes opciones, y el ajedrez es una de las mejores opciones, sobre todo porque ayuda que los chicos se relacionen con otros en una forma estudiada, pausada, donde tienen que descansar del activismo y más bien pensar, en ser estrategas, sentir que participan y compiten, y que eso les hace mucho bien”.
La actividad se realizó en el despacho de la señora ministra, donde también estuvo el viceministro de Educación, Leonardo Sánchez Hernández.
“La firma de este convenio viene a reafirmar la importancia de que el Ministerio de Educación Pública le da al ajedrez como una herramienta cognitiva para el desarrollo de competencias, habilidades y destrezas en el estudiante, en este mundo pedagógico, porque permite a los estudiantes concentrarse, pensar de manera estructurada, disciplinada, estratégica, es una disciplina que permite conjuntar las matemáticas, el pensamiento crítico, el pensamiento racional, que son elementos fundamentales en los procesos de aprendizaje”, recalcó Sánchez Hernández.
La Ministra afirmó que “cuando usted ve la cantidad de jóvenes que se interesan cuando hay torneos, usted ve que hay una gran oportunidad, para que ellos tengan un área de interés, que les permite estar fuera de las calles, que les permite seguir avanzando, y mantener ese espíritu de querer divertirse de una forma sana, y que desarrolla el cerebro al mismo tiempo”.
Subrayó que el paso que sigue es trabajar en el plan de acción y en equipar los centros educativos con juegos de ajedrez e incentivar a la población en el interés de la práctica del ajedrez como herramienta educativa y como una opción deportiva.
“Cuando uno habla de la formación de los individuos la tiene que ver de manera integral. Justamente estamos trabajando el tema de competencias, porque eso integra conocimiento, habilidad, actitud, valores y en estos juegos se aprende mucho de valores, de actitud, de control, de las emociones, de la autoestima y todo eso es muy importante para el progreso académico. Un joven que invierte en deporte, en su formación en valores, se le hace mucho más fácil la parte académica”.
Asimismo, Leonardo Sánchez, señala que la firma del convenio refuerza la ley aprobada tiempo atrás para la introducción del ajedrez dentro de la educación costarricense.
Explicó que las áreas a trabajar ahora son el reglamento a la ley, la elaboración de módulos de capacitación para que los docentes de educación física cuenten con las herramientas, competencias y habilidades para enseñar el ajedrez, e inversión en equipo, para que los centros educativos cuenten con las condiciones para la enseñanza del ajedrez.
ANTECEDENTES
El 23 de marzo de 2022 la Federación Costarricense de Ajedrez recibió la buena noticia de la aprobación de manera unánime que tuvo el Proyecto de Ley para “la declaración de interés público y promoción del ajedrez en centros educativos, que impulsó el diputado del Frente Amplio, José María Villalta.
De esta manera, el ajedrez se podrá enseñar en escuelas y colegios a lo largo y ancho del territorio costarricense, como una herramienta educativa que podrá impulsar el Ministerio de Educación Pública para beneficio de los estudiantes.
Es por ello, que dentro de este viernes se firmó el convenio respectivo.
“Hay muchos estudios que demuestran el potencial del ajedrez, es algo que no se está haciendo actualmente en el país, muy pocas escuelas y colegios lo hacen, en el ámbito privado, algunos docentes en el sector público a título personal, pero ahora con esta ley se establece claramente la posición del Estado de definir una política pública para promover la enseñanza del ajedrez, y también se reconoce como disciplina deportiva que se debe incorporar, porque además el ajedrez es un deporte que se puede desarrollar de forma más barata, se puede promover en línea, que no requiere grandes inversiones a diferencia de otras disciplinas, en las que incluso no existe en nuestras escuelas y colegios las condiciones para ello”, agregó en su momento Villalta.
La FCA tuvo una participación importante en la elaboración del texto, expone que “mediante la presente iniciativa se pretende declarar de interés público la enseñanza del ajedrez en centros educativos públicos y privados y promover su inclusión en los programas educativos, como herramienta pedagógica pertinente para mejorar las capacidades cognitivas y el desarrollo sociopersonal de niños y niñas”.
A su vez, señala que “el derecho fundamental a la educación, así como la obligación del Estado de garantizar este derecho y financiar la educación pública se encuentran reconocidos en los numerales 77 y 78 de nuestra Constitución Política. A su vez, el artículo 77 de la Carta Magna dispone que la educación de debe concebirse como un proceso integral: ARTÍCULO 77.- La educación pública será organizada como un proceso integral correlacionado en sus diversos ciclos, desde la pre-escolar hasta la universitaria.”
Se enfatiza que “el ajedrez no solo es un juego de tradición milenaria o uno de los deportes más populares a nivel mundial. También se ha convertido en una exitosa herramienta pedagógica que ha demostrado su utilidad para el desarrollo de mejores capacidades en las y los estudiantes, una vez que se implementa en niños y niñas durante las primeras etapas del ciclo educativo”.
También se recalca que “el ajedrez resulta una actividad favorecedora del desarrollo intelectual, que puede ser utilizada en esa trascendental batalla que consiste en la educación de las nuevas generaciones de personas, educación que conduce, que guía el desarrollo; pues por medio de él se produce un acercamiento significativo hacia diferentes dominios del conocimiento. Su práctica constituye un juego de constante búsqueda de variantes en situaciones de incertidumbre, un proceso intelectual que transita y persigue equilibrar los senderos de la razón, la emoción y la proyección estética de la persona que practica el ajedrez. El ajedrez puede contribuir al desarrollo integral del ser humano desde la primera infancia, pues es una actividad atractiva, donde se relacionan figuras de diverso carácter, cada una con funciones determinadas, que los niños representan mediante el juego de roles y la dramatización”.
