El presidente de Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejía, indicó en rueda de prensa ante los medios de República Dominicana, de que El Salvador está preparada para la celebración de los XXIV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe.
Durante más de 40 minutos, Mejía se dirigió ante los medios locales e internacionales, estos últimos, conectados a través de la plataforma ZOOM.
San Salvador, ciudad sede de los Juegos regionales más antiguos del mundo, albergará 31 de los 37 deportes en disputa, donde la subsede de República Dominicana, llevará las acciones de las otras seis.
En la reunión con los medios, el también miembro COI, detalló que en el país centroamericano se disputarán 46 de las 53 disciplinas deportivas, además de que se utilizarán 22 sedes deportivas (5 en República Dominicana) y 47 escenarios deportivos (6 en la subsede).
Mejía también reveló que atletas de la talla de Marileidy Paulino, Yulimar Rojas, Mariana Pajon, Keshorn Walcott, Nicholas Paul, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Roberto Hernandez, Sara López, entre otros medallistas olímpicos y mundialistas, competirán en la cita regional.
También destacó sobre la importancia de los atletas competir en la Justa, y es que es clasificatorio para los Juegos Panamericanos de Santiago este 2023, y para los de atletismo, servirá para obtener boletos directos a los Juegos Olímpicos de Paris 2024.
Los Juegos serán inaugurados el 23 de junio en el Estadio Nacional Jorge “El Mágico” González, pero los deportes de tenis de mesa y voleibol playa comenzarán el 21, mientras el boxeo, dará inicio su fase preliminar el 22.
