Sub21 Femenina lista para el Mundial de Playa

Jóvenes tendrán un viaje de 37 horas hasta su destino final

La Selección Nacional de Voleibol de Playa Sub21 Femenina conformada por Sofía Vega de 17 años y Ximena Núñez de 20 años competirá en el Mundial de Voleibol de Playa a realizarse en Tailandia en la provincia de Roi ET, aproximadamente a 500 kilómetros de la capital Bangkok, del 07 al 12 de noviembre 2023.

Las jugadoras inician su reto deportivo con un viaje de más de 17.000 kilómetros, haciendo escalas en Los Ángeles Estados Unidos, Tokio Japón, Bangkok Tailandia, hasta llegar a Roi Et.

“Nos hemos estado preparando todos los días con entrenamientos muy fuertes, nos levantamos a las 4:00 am para entrenar en las canchas de La Sabana de 4:30 a 6:30, luego cada una de las chicas se dirige a sus respectivos lugares de estudio, algunas al colegio, otras a la universidad. Aunque ahora nos tocó a Xime y a mí representar a Costa Rica, son muchas las chicas que conforman el equipo de Voleibol de Playa en las distintas categorías, esto es un trabajo de todas, un esfuerzo y trabajo de equipo.”, señaló la atleta Sofía Vega.

Por su parte, su compañera, Ximena Núñez se enfrentan a su segundo mundial, tras haber sido parte de la dupla que representó al país en Roma, Italia 2022 junto Ángel Williams en el Mundial categoría mayor.

“Estamos satisfechas con nuestra preparación, aunque siempre queremos entrenar más. Lo hemos hecho a consciencia, nos hemos preparado durante varios años, Sofía se ha preparado más como bloqueadora, yo con mi roll de defensora”, agregó Núñez.

Las jóvenes pudieron realizar el viaje gracias al trabajo en conjunto de tres organizaciones: La Federación Costarricense de Voleibol (FECOVOL), el Comité Olímpico Nacional (CON) y la Confederación de Norteamérica, Centroamérica y el Caribe de Voleibol (NORCECA).
