Federico Venegas vivió un debut soñado en distancia Ironman: “el día salió perfecto”

Federico Venegas se convirtió este sábado en uno de los mejores triatletas costarricenses en Ironman, luego de finalizar el evento de Emilia Romagna en Italia con un tiempo de 8:35.18. Esto le permitió ubicarse en el sétimo puesto en la clasificación general y cuarto de su categoría (30-34 años).

El triatleta del equipo Coopenae vivió un debut soñado en esta exigente distancia (3,8km de natación, 180km de ciclismo y 42,195km de atletismo) e incluso superó sus propias expectativas, según contó en entrevista con Coopenae Triatlón.

“Muy contento de haber podido debutar de esta manera, tenía una expectativa y pude hasta superarla. El día salió perfecto, super feliz, fue un evento donde te lleva a otros límites, a otras experiencias que nunca había vivido”, comentó.

Este evento, explicó, le permitió experimentar el triatlón de diferente manera: “hay que ser pasivo, respetar el ritmo, no desesperarse, comer mucho, hidratarse, ser paciente pero estar atento”.

Con su crono de 8:35.18, Venegas se acercó al récord nacional de distancia Ironman de un hombre costarricense, el cual está en manos de Ernesto Espinoza (8:24:30), el cual impuso en el Ironman de Cozumel en el año 2021. En ese momento Espinoza obtuvo el primer lugar de su división (40-44 años) y la posición 24 de la clasificación general.

“Es algo que como triatleta siempre quise hacer, desde que uno inicia en triatlón su cumbre o objetivo siempre es algún día un Ironman, pude cumplirlo y muy orgulloso de hacerlo como uno de los mejores ticos también, y haber dejado a Costa Rica en alto”, añadió Venegas desde Italia.

“Y lo más lindo de todo creo que es el apoyo que la gente me ha dado antes y después del evento. Siempre me he caracterizado por ser amigo de la gente sin importar el equipo”.
