La triatleta costarricense Raquel Solís vivió una de sus mejores presentaciones este sábado en Montevideo, Uruguay, donde se realizó el Campeonato Panamericano y culminó en el puesto 11, cumpliendo los objetivos planteados para este evento.
Solís completó el triatlón en distancia estándar con un tiempo de 2:05:48. Nadó en 26:36, mientras en el ciclismo realizó 1:00:49 y corrió en 37:19.
Tres atletas salieron del agua por delante del resto, mientras en la bicicleta Solís se mantuvo en un grupo importante que impuso el ritmo para alcanzar a dos de esas fugadas. Ahí mismo la tica fue remontando posiciones, explicó su entrenador, Roberto Solano.
En la segunda transición perdió algunos lugares porque se le cayó la bicicleta, sin embargo, luego se recuperó y se mantuvo en el puesto 11 durante el atletismo.
“Ha sido su mejor evento con respecto a otras corredoras del continente a las que nunca les habíamos ganado. México trajo a todo el equipo, A, B y C; estaba Canadá, Estados Unidos tenía un equipo débil, y Brasil trajo al equipo A, que es el mejor de América, y todos los demás”, comentó Solano.
Por la posición, pero sobre todo el rendimiento de Solís, las sensaciones son muy positivas, con miras a seguir sumando puntos para los Juegos Olímpicos 2024.
“Bastante contentos. Se sintió súper cómoda en natación, en control en la bici. Ya está cambiando como triatleta, creo que para el próximo año viene la mejor Raquel que vamos a conocer”.
La brasileña Luisa Baptista se dejó la medalla de oro (2:02:18), el segundo lugar también quedó en manos de Brasil, con Vittoria Lopes (2:02:31), y cerró el podio la canadiense Emy Legault (2:02:42).
En masculino, Costa Rica estuvo representada por Álvaro Campos y Allan Naranjo. Para el primero fue una competencia difícil cuando llegó el momento de correr. Según Solano, no tuvo un buen atletismo.
Campos estuvo en el grupo principal durante el ciclismo, sin embargo, luego fue cediendo posiciones y terminó en la casilla 30, luego de una hora, 57 minutos y 18 segundos. Nadó en 23:57, el ciclismo lo completó en 56:06 y corrió en 36.19. Entre los Sub-23 se quedó con el décimo puesto.
Por su parte, Naranjo compitió como Sub-23 y arribó en la posición 15, con un tiempo total de 02:03:05.
El mexicano Crisanto Grajales (1:51:12) ganó la carrera, seguido por el chileno Diego Moya (1:51:24) y el canadiense Charles Paquet (1:51:27).
