La Liga Mayor Guanacasteca, Liga Menor de La Cruz, mas los equipos menores de Playa Tamarindo, Potrero, Brasilito y Tambor, supone un resurgimiento de nuestro deporte en la provincia.
En los años 70´s los Voluntarios Japoneses de la Japanese International Oversees Agency (JICA), llevaron a cabo la construcción del Parque de Béisbol “Japón” en Liberia. Se llevaban ahí Campeonatos de Béisbol para Mayores, en donde peloteros de la época, como Winston Johnson, jugaban en ese campeonato y emisoras locales transmitían los partidos para todos el país.
Con el paso de los años, aparte del cantón central de Liberia, aparecen Santa Cruz, La Cruz, entre otros. Lamentablemente, los 2 primeros desaparecen por la salida de sus entrenadores a saber, Johnny Cano y Pedro Alexander Golobios, los cuales dirigieron a estos equipos para Juegos Nacionales en varias oportunidades.
Para 2014, se llevo a cabo la construcción del Campo de Cañas, que con escepticismo de parte de los conocedores, porque se cuestionaba que en el lugar no había un grupo o líder que estuviera promoviendo el béisbol en ese cantón o por lo menos eso se pensaba.
Hoy en día sabemos de la Liga Mayor Guanacasteca la cual cuenta con 10 equipos localizados en varios lugares de la provincia. Es la liga que cuenta con la mayor cantidad de conjuntos en el país y según David Cortez, hay mas que quieren entrar para la próxima temporada. La lista de escuadras participantes son:

Así mismo, el béisbol menor no se ha quedado atrás, ya la Liga de Béisbol de la Cruz, ha emergido este año y hace unas semanas empezaron los juegos entre equipos como La Cruz, La Virgen-San Vicente y Santa Cecilia en categoría U13, mientras que los equipos de La Cruz, Belice y Santa Cecilia juegan en la U17. Pero esto no acaba aquí, hay otros programas que han emergido en la línea costera, porque Playa Tamarindo, Playa Potrero, Playa Brasilito y Playa Tambor cuentan con equipos de liga menor.
En conclusión, el Béisbol esta resurgiendo lo que lo puede llevar a ser una de las zonas mas productivas en cuanto a jugadores se refiere.
