Atenas se convirtió en el Campeón Nacional de Voleibol Masculino de la Primera División 2023 tras vencer en la final al conjunto de Belén.

En dos encuentros disputados entre jueves 15 y viernes 16 de febrero 2024, el sexteto ateniense logró coronarse Campeón Nacional consiguiendo así el Tricampeonato.

El primer encuentro de la final se jugó en el IPEC de Santa Barbara, una cancha alterna donde Belén fungió como casa. La victoria fue para Atenas 3-0 con parciales 25-21/25-21/25-10. El segundo juego se disputó en el Liceo de Atenas, los set fueron sumamente reñidos 26-24/25-21/25-18m digno de una final, pero Atenas impondría su supremacía con el 3-0 y celebrando así su tercer título nacional al hilo.

«La gloria y honra a Dios, por esta bendición de ser tricampeoens nacionales. Fue un año muy duro en todos los aspectos, nos afectaron situaciones deportivas y personales, pero nos unimos más como equipo, entregamos todo por un cantón como Atenas la cuna del Voleibol. En apertura no logramos clasificar a la final lo que nos dolió muchísimo, pero empezamos a planificar, integramos a un compañero como César Salas al cuerpo técnico y en la unión de grupo formamos una familia increíble», manifestó Alejandro Guerrero, Entrenador de Atenas Masculino.

Guerrero agregó que lograron el primer paso que era el Clausura para acceder a la final contra Belén «Un digno rival que luchó tu a tu para poder ganar el torneo, nosotros teníamos un poco más de ritmo que Belén y pues logramos llevarlo y ser Campeones». 

Belén consiguió llegar a la final nacional al haber obtenido el título de Campeón de Apertura y Atenas el de Clausura 2023.
