En marzo 2020 el primer caso de Covid 19 en el país llegó a cambiar nuestra vida, nuestra rutina diaria. Llegaron las restricciones, limitaciones y distanciamientos sociales en todas las actividades.
El deporte no fue la excepción y la pandemia causó cancelación de eventos nacionales e internacionales, copas, campamentos, entrenamientos y los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales. Se cerraron los polideportivos y centros de entrenamiento donde los jóvenes atletas de los Comités Cantonales desarrollaban sus actividades. Esto creó para muchos incertidumbre y desmotivación
A principio de este año, el panorama no estaba claro acerca de lo que podría suceder con los Juegos Nacionales: posibles fechas, si habría eliminatorias y lugar de la competencia. Después de varias propuestas, se logró organizar y llevar a cabo la competencia del triatlón de los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales en el Parque Metropolitano La Sabana, el sábado 6 y domingo 7 de noviembre pasado.
Tanto para los atletas, como para los entrenadores de los Comités Cantonales, este evento fue el impulso motivacional que necesitaban.
El entrenador Alfredo Vargas del Comité Cantonal de Deportes de Alajuela nos comentó “que el evento se pudiera realizar en pandemia fue un éxito, porque ya se necesitaba, era urgente que el deporte se reactivara”.
Las justas nacionales vinieron a dar un matiz diferente en los entrenamientos de los jóvenes, quienes se alegraron con esta noticia. Hablando con la entrenadora Alia Cardinales del Comité Cantonal de Deportes de San Carlos, nos comentó “es un alivio tanto para mí, como para los atletas , porque es muy fuerte entrenar sin tener objetivos claros y es muy difícil planificar sin eventos. Es la realidad que tenemos ahorita”.
El triatlón en estos JDN, reflejó la necesidad de competir después casi dos años de inactividad. Esto ayudó muchísimo los entrenadores que a lo largo del año motivaron de manera fuerte a los atletas para seguir entrenando. El cambio de chip a “modo competencia”, hizo que la constancia, el esfuerzo y disciplina tuvieran un valor extra de cara a las justas nacionales. Para el profesor Ajax Alvares, del Comité Cantonal de Belén “el hecho de estar encerrados y competir, me hace notar que los atletas quedaron inyectados y le ven futuro a los entrenamientos. El hecho de que vean que ya hay más competencias los motiva y uno lo nota en la asistencia a entrenamientos y los tiempos han mejorado”.
Sin duda alguna, los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales han sido importantes y necesarios para que los entrenadores de los Comités Deportivos Cantonales puedan hacer proyecciones, planeamientos y ajustes para mejorar el rendimiento de los atletas. La entrenadora del Comité Cantonal de Deportes de Liberia, Magdalena Chacón nos comentaba que “La competencia nos permitió reajustar los objetivos en base a la realidad de cada atleta, con parámetros más reales. Nos permite verlos en un sistema más natural de competencia que nos deja ver que aspectos técnicos debemos mejorar, como las transiciones y la técnica de cada uno de los chicos”.
El triatlón de los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales 2021, nos deja un sabor de boca muy agradable, donde los entrenadores comentaron lo satisfechos que quedaron con la organización. También, los atletas, padres de familia y personas cercanas a los comités, pusieron una nota muy alta a la organización del evento y al cumplimiento de los protocolos sanitarios. Los padres en general, comentaron que sintieron que sus hijos compitieron en un ambiente seguro.
Lo que nos espera para el próximo año, será el fruto de la experiencia de lo que pudimos lograr en estos Juegos Nacionales, gracias a los colaboradores de la Federación, los entrenadores, atletas y sus familias. Si bien el futuro continúa siendo incierto por la pandemia, en la FEUTRI buscaremos adaptarnos siempre para procurar continuar con nuestro deporte activo.
En palabras de la entrenadora Carolina Mora, “los Juegos Nacionales son el pilar de nuestras selecciones nacionales y no podemos dejarlos de lado. Debemos buscar adaptarnos y continuar creciendo por el futuro de los jóvenes y del deporte”.
Esto apenas es el inicio de la adaptación a esta “nueva normalidad”, en la cual buscaremos siempre dar el esfuerzo y la calidad mostrada en estos Juegos Deportivos Nacionales 2021.
