El gol de Juan Cayasso que nos hizo vibrar en Italia 90. La hazaña de Brasil 2014. La consolidación del fútbol femenino. El Aztecazo. Estos y todos los hitos importantes del balompié nacional están presentes en Crónica del Centenario, el libro lanzado por la Federación Costarricense de Fútbol para conmemorar los primeros 100 años de este deporte federado en nuestro país.
En el marco de su Centenario -que se celebró el pasado 13 de junio- la FCRF, con el patrocinio de Scotiabank, convocó a un grupo de reconocidos historiadores y especialistas para elaborar esta obra.
Bajo la coordinación de Víctor Umaña, el libro cuenta con la participación de José Antonio Pastor, Gerardo Coto, Christian Sandoval, Randall Corella y Rodrigo Calvo. Entre todos construyeron un amplio documento que recorre estos 100 años con precisión histórica, pasión y rigurosidad.
Estos son algunos detalles de los contenidos:
-Edición de lujo en pasta gruesa
-Seis capítulos que llevan al lector en una línea del tiempo, desde 1921 hasta el 2021
-325 páginas
-Más de 600 fotografías
-Datos estadísticos de todos los partidos oficiales de las selecciones nacionales en las justas regionales y mundiales en diferentes categorías
-Un repaso por 100 uniformes de la Tricolor en su primer siglo de existencia
-Reseña de más de 60 partidos históricos de nuestras selecciones
El libro fue presentado este jueves 16 de diciembre en el hotel Real Intercontinental, durante un acto que unió a reconocidas figuras que en algún momento vistieron la camiseta Tricolor, como Juan Cayasso, Paulo César Wanchope, Raquel Rodríguez (aún activa), Roger Flores, Carolina Venegas, Rigoberto Rojas, Michael Umaña y Carlos Vivó.
Rodolfo Villalobos, Presidente de la FCRF, expresó: “Queremos agradecer a Scotiabank por su apoyo en este proyecto; una vez más esta institución se convierte en un gran aliado del deporte preferido de los costarricenses. También queremos agradecer a las personas e instituciones que colaboraron, y especialmente a todos los jugadores y jugadoras que a lo largo de estos 100 años vistieron con orgullo y responsabilidad la camiseta de nuestras Selecciones Nacionales. Con este proyecto, queremos dejar un legado que está fundamentado en valores”.
Por su parte, Carolina Durán, Directora Regional de Mercadeo y Comunicación de Scotiabank, afirmó: “Para Scotiabank, como banco oficial de todas las selecciones nacionales de fútbol, es motivo de orgullo ofrecer al país una publicación que retrata los hitos más importantes de un deporte que reúne buena parte de la esencia del ser costarricense, con una mirada optimista en las nuevas generaciones y en los próximos capítulos de la historia de esta disciplina”.
En tanto, Víctor Umaña, Coordinador de la obra, indicó: “Este libro hace un recorrido por 100 años de balompié costarricense contando anécdotas, enseñando rostros y compartiendo testimonios. Brinda los elementos para entender la esencia de nuestra pasión, saber de dónde viene y hacia dónde va. Representa un esfuerzo único de compilación de datos, fotografías y relatos inéditos sobre los hechos que han forjado el sentimiento que nos une”.
Por su parte, José Antonio Pastor, uno de los autores y quien es periodista e historiador de reconocida trayectoria, explicó que la principal conclusión a la que se llega con esta obra es lo grande que es el fútbol, que permite a una nación pequeña en extensión y población hacer frente a grandes potencias y derrotarlas. “Los primeros 100 años de historia del balompié federado nos demuestran que mientras mayor es el reto, mejores son las actuaciones de la Tricolor. Fue un privilegio trabajar en un equipo con reconocidos colegas. Además, el liderazgo de Víctor Umaña, la coordinación de Adriana Durán y el trabajo incansable de Patricia Gurdián han sido fundamentales para presentar un producto único para el aficionado al fútbol”, afirmó.
La Crónica del Centenario está a la venta en las páginas web cronicadelcentenario.com y specialticket.net, y de manera física en las tiendas Penalty y La Roja. Tiene un valor de ₡29.000, con un precio especial para los tarjetahabientes de Scotiabank de ₡24.650.
