Waston: “Sabemos que es un partido para ganar sí o sí”

La Sele inició la recta final de su preparación para el juego ante Panamá del próximo jueves con el equipo casi completo, tras la llegada de varios legionarios este fin de semana.

Ya se incorporaron Juan Pablo Vargas, Joel Campbell, Alonso Martínez y Bryan Oviedo; tan solo falta de arribar próximamente el guardameta estelar Keylor Navas.

El grupo sigue concentrado en el Complejo Deportivo FCRF-Plycem bajo estrictas medidas sanitarias. Como parte del protocolo, no hubo atención a prensa de manera presencial, sino mediante una zona mixta virtual en la que participaron Yeltsin Tejeda y Kendal Waston.

El siguiente es un extracto de sus declaraciones:

Sabemos en qué podemos hacerles daño, hemos trabajado bien, de aquí al jueves faltan varios entrenamientos para llegar al 100% en este partido tan importante.

Presión por ganar
En una eliminatoria siempre hay presión, sobre todo si es en casa, además de que esperamos bastante afición. Lo tomamos con responsabilidad, nos hemos mantenido concentrados y con jornadas intensas de trabajo. Desde el primer día hablamos que esto es a muerte, para demostrar que queremos ir a ese Mundial. Los jóvenes también lo saben.

Cuidados por la pandemia
El primer día de la semana anterior empezamos con una prueba de antígenos, tuvimos que esperar los resultados en el carro para ir cerrando la burbuja. Durante la semana ha habido pruebas de antígenos y de PCR. Por el momento que vive el país, lo mejor fue cerrar la concentración, eso nos ha ayudado a aprovechar todo el tiempo en una semana que es clave.

Situación mental del equipo
Nosotros sabemos que es un partido para ganar sí o sí, sabemos lo que representa para nosotros, para la Federación y para el país. Estamos mentalmente positivos, anuentes a las indicaciones del Profesor (Suárez) y durante el partido van a fluir los sentimientos donde el corazón, la pasión y las ganas de triunfar se verán reflejados.

Capacidad de competir en estos partidos
Confío plenamente en los compañeros y en el trabajo que el cuerpo técnico hace estos días. Nosotros como jugadores debemos responder dentro de la cancha y plasmar eso en una victoria. Vamos positivos y con la mejor disposición, nosotros somos los primeros beneficiados con ganar.

Qué han hecho diferente para corregir errores
Sabemos en qué debemos mejorar, tal vez un juego más fluido y punzante en el ataque. Ojalá encontremos una noche ideal, con la intensidad necesaria para enfrentar este partido. Hemos practicado variantes para que se den durante el juego.
