Estando instaladas en el país caribeño de Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses la directora técnica de la Selección Mayor Femenina de Costa Rica Amelia Valverde atendió a los medios de comunicación junto a la legionaria Raquel Rodríguez, y ambas coinciden en que el objetivo en el segundo juego eliminatorio es uno y está claro: “ganar a como dé lugar”.
Después de un desgastante viaje y aún con menos de 48 horas de recuperación, tras el partido que disputaron ante San Cristóbal y Nieves el pasado jueves, la entrenadora de la Tricolor aseguró que, aunque aún no realizan el entrenamiento oficial, el equipo está listo para medirse ante las caribeñas, un equipo que hará valer su ventaja de localía.
“Seguimos acelerando los procesos de recuperación que tenemos. Tras nuestro arribo procuramos que las jugadoras durmieran todo lo posible, por la mañana aprovechamos para ver un video del rival y analizar el posible planteamiento de juego que nos harán”, dijo la seleccionadora.
Y es que más allá de buscar una motivación extra para saltar al terreno de juego a ganar, Valverde aseguró que el simple hecho de ser parte de una eliminatoria mundialista es motivación suficiente para salir a darlo todo.
“Empezamos bien la eliminatoria, aunque me parece que el primer juego pudo ser mejor, siempre tendremos cosas por mejorar, pero un punto alto es el tener nuestro marco en cero. Ahora nos debemos de enfocar en Islas Vírgenes, una selección que está en casa y que estoy segura jugará muy diferente a lo que le planteó el pasado miércoles a Guatemala”, aseveró Amelia Valverde.
Raquel Rodríguez, una de las legionarias y referente del equipo patrio, indicó que las seleccionadas se encuentran bien, concentradas en el objetivo de ganar y claras de lo que mañana les puede plantear las caribeñas.
“Los equipos del Caribe se caracterizan por su fortaleza física y velocidad, por lo que definitivamente serán factores a considerar en el duelo de mañana. De nuestra parte debemos seguir concentradas, trabajando fuerte en aspectos como la contundencia de cara al marco para sumar la mayor cantidad de goles posible y sellar el marco para mantenerlo en cero”, aseveró Rodríguez.
Sobre las dos jugadoras que sufrieron golpes al cierre del partido ante San Cristóbal y Nieves, la entrenadora aseguró que ya tuvieron su terapia de recuperación y están disponibles para ser tomadas en cuenta.
“El caso de Gloriana Villalobos así como Viviana Chinchilla fueron molestias musculares lo que tuvieron pero se encuentran bien, ambas jugadoras fueron valoradas por el médico de la Selección y nos dijo que están en óptimas condiciones de formar parte del equipo si así lo requerimos”, manifestó Valverde.
La Sele reconocerá esta tarde el terreno de juego Bethlem Soccer Complex en la ciudad de Saint Croix, lugar donde mañana enfrentarán a Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses a partir de las 3 p.m. (hora tica).
