(Monterrey, México). Valeria del Campo no es un nombre cualquiera en Monterrey. La defensa costarricense ha sido sin duda la jugadora a seguir por los aficionados del club mexicano en el torneo que disputa la Selección Femenina en suelo regio.
Solo basta revisar las redes sociales de la futbolista o del equipo de Rayadas para darse cuenta del cariño tan especial que le tienen los aficionados a “La tica de oro”, como ellos mismos le han denominado.
Valeria llegó a Monterrey en agosto del 2021 y se convirtió así en el primer refuerzo extranjero para el club. Desde ese momento, su don de gente y el famoso Pura vida hicieron que se ganara el corazón de los aficionados.
En el torneo, que por cierto termina este lunes con la disputa por el tercer lugar entre Costa Rica y Jamaica (5 pm) y la final entre Estados Unidos y Canadá (8 pm), Valeria ha vivido momentos muy especiales.
En cada partido se ha escuchado la ovación cuando mencionan su nombre en el anuncio de las alineaciones. También es normal ver a los aficionados esperarla al final de los juegos para pedirle una foto o un autógrafo. Incluso, la misma prensa local se ha hecho presente a los entrenamientos para seguirla y hasta han llegado a consultarle a la entrenadora Amelia Valverde la razón de dejarla o no en el banquillo.
“Ha sido un torneo muy bonito a nivel personal. Monterrey es una ciudad que me ha acogido muy bien y con una afición como la de Rayados que me ha hecho sentir en casa”, dijo Valeria.
“Ese calor también se lo han dado a mis compañeras y me ha gustado ser -hasta cierto punto- anfitriona. Es algo que también me motiva mucho”, añadió la futbolista costarricense.
Al cierre de este torneo, Valeria volverá a unirse a su club Las Rayadas de Monterrey para primero pelear por otro título de campeonas y segundo, para seguir dejando el Pura vida en lo más alto de la liga femenina de México.
