Un total de 24 fueron las elegidas por el director técnico José Catoya para que se mantengan en la recta final de preparación de cara al debut en la Copa Mundial Sub 20 Femenina de la FIFA, Costa Rica 2022.
Aunque la lista definitiva de 21 se conocerá hasta el 1 de agosto, fecha límite que dio la FIFA para presentar los nombres, el estratega de la nacional decidió reducir la lista de 31 a 24 para prever cualquier tipo de contratiempo que se pueda dar en la gira que tendrán esta semana por Liberia, Guanacaste.
“En la recta final estamos buscando afinar detalles. Hoy tuve que reducir la lista y hablar con la seleccionadas que quedan por fuera, siempre es difícil dar este tipo de noticias, pero debemos elegir a las que están en mejores condiciones”, indicó Catoya.
El estratega de la nacional confirmó la realización de dos fogueos en los días previos al debut mundialista, con los que estaría culminando meses de preparación.
“En la gira por Liberia tendremos un partido con un equipo del pueblo, pero además enfrentaremos a la selección de Nueva Zelanda el 2 de agosto en el estadio Edgardo Baltodano, mientras que el 5 jugaremos en el Ricardo Saprissa ante Holanda”, acotó el técnico. Ambos partidos serán a puerta cerrada.
Este jueves el equipo tiene planeado salir a eso de las 8 a.m. rumbo a Liberia para empezar con su gira de preparación. Regresan a la capital el 2 de agosto, después del fogueo con Nueva Zelanda, para iniciar con la cuenta regresiva de la FIFA los días previos al debut, el 10 de agosto, ante Australia, a las 8 p.m.
