La Selección Universitaria de Tenis de Mesa de Costa Rica inició competencia este domingo 23 de octubre en los juegos universitarios panamericanos, FISU América Games Mérida 2022, en Méxio, cosechando 2 preseas de plata en el Evento por Equipos.
Primeramente en femenino, las tenimesistas se enfrentaron al poderoso equipo de México, en donde los ticos lucharon a más no poder pero al final no se logró el triunfo, por lo que Sharon Díaz, María del Sol Rojas y Nicole Granados se dejarían un honroso segundo lugar.
Por otro lado, en masculino, los costarricenses darían una ardua batalla ante los aztecas, sin embargo al final el triunfo sería para los mexicanos; a segunda hora el equipo nacional debía enfrentarse ante el cuadro de Argentina, no obstante estos no tenían equipo completo y la medalla de plata sería para Víctor Carranza, Felipe Arriaga, Benjamín Paniagua y Juan José Trejos de Costa Rica.
Durante la tarde del domingo inició la fase de grupos del evento individual femenino, misma que concluirá la tarde del lunes 24, al igual que la realización de la fase en masculino; por la mañana de este lunes se realizará el Evento de Dobles.
