El Director Técnico de la Selección Mayor Femenina, Beni Rubido, eligió las 18 jugadoras que le harán frente a los Juegos Panamericanos Santiago 2023.
Por disposiciones del torneo, el timonel solo puede convocar 16 jugadoras de campo y dos porteras. Además, no se puede contar con legionarias pues el tiempo sobrepasa la ventana FIFA.
Aun así, el equipo está compuesto por jugadoras de mucho recorrido, doce de las futbolistas son recientes mundialistas y también destacan nuevos rostros como el de Alexa Herrera y Tanisha Fonseca.
“Siempre es difícil hacer una lista y esta tiene sus peculiaridades porque ha habido una buena actitud en el grupo que ha trabajado este microciclo y también porque es una lista que solo cuenta con 16 jugadoras de campo”, dijo Rubido.
Y añadió: “Necesitamos futbolistas que sean capaces de acumular cinco partidos en apenas 15 días, además necesitamos versatilidad y que manejen diferentes posiciones. Es nuestro trabajo y tenemos que tomar estas decisiones. Las que fueron elegidas son lo mejor que nos puede ayudar a conseguir el objetivo”.
La Tricolor jugará la fase de grupos ante Argentina, Estados Unidos y Bolivia. Este último rival ingresó a la competencia en las últimas horas según confirmó el Comité Olímpico de ese país.
“Creo que Argentina es el rival a vencer. Tiene muy buena selección y le da continuidad en gran medida a la selección que tuvo en el Mundial (…) Estados Unidos es verdad que va con un equipo muy joven, pero muchas de esas jugadoras las hemos enfrentado en torneo de categorías menores. Y Bolivia es el rival pendiente de ver. Tenemos posibilidades con los 3 rivales”, afirmó el timonel.
La Selección entrenará los días 16 y 17 de octubre en concentración abierta (entrenan y salen hacia sus casas). Estos días Benir Rubido llamó a las 8 jugadoras que estuvieron entrenando y quedaron fuera de la lista.
Por eso estarán Ángela Mesén (Cofutpa), Pamela Elizondo (Dimas Escazú), Noelia Bermúdez (LDA), Marelys Fonseca (Pérez Zeledón), Priscilla Rodríguez, Carolina Venegas (Saprissa), Yerling Ovares, María Paula Porras y Carol Sánchez (Sporting FC)
El 18 de octubre concentrarán de forma cerrada con doble sesión de entrenamiento y el 19 la delegación viajará a las 10:30 am rumbo a Santiago, Chile.
